Hunting Packages

Our hunts include horses, groceries, a cook, and top quality equipment with experienced guides who are knowledgeable about the terrain and animals which we pursue.  Also included is packing your game out, transportation to and from the airport or motel, the taxidermy and meat processor that will keep our guests happy to revisit us for years to come.  Plan now to allow us to offer you our little piece of heaven on right here in Big Sky Country

Hunt elk, deer and bear from our cabins set in the finest hunting country to be found.   Cabins are located on private land away from the local or walk-in hunter.  They are accessible by 4x4 or horses only, on a private road that is locked to the public.  We offer two sleeping cabins for our guests. These accommodations are heated with wood and lit with propane lights making them comfortable and warm, a true home away from home.

On the property is also a large cooking lodge, located just a few feet away, where we meet for meals and visiting about the day’s events. Our cooks rival any to be found and offer top quality meals and fulfilling nourishing food.  We definitely do not skimp on portions and do offer alternatives for our special diet visitors.

The country we hunt is fairly rugged with timber ridges and open meadows.  The elevations are from 4500 to 8000 feet.  We have our share of snow, wind and unforgettable pristine scenery.  Some of the necessary items you need to bring are a warm sleeping bag, clothes for 20-below to balmy 60-degree weather conditions, rubber or water proof footwear, your rifle or bow, hunting license,  personal toiletries,  a good pair of binoculars and a camera to capture your experiences during your stay with us.

Our season usually opens the last week of October and runs through Thanksgiving.  We hunt antelope from the ranch in areas 440 and 444, the first two weeks of the regular season. Our first hunt starts on Saturday and ends on a Saturday. All others are Sunday to Saturday. Hunting percentages run about 99 percent on deer.  Elk is variable depending on winter kill and the weather.  Ten-day hunts are available upon request.

Prices are $4,000 for a 6 day hunt & non hunters pay $600 for 6 days.

Relax with us in Montana’s Big Sky Country for a memorable summer vacation.  McDonough Outfitters offers fishing and packing trips into the high mountain lake or fishing nearby streams.  Pack into beautiful No-See-Um Lake for fishing and enjoy the scenery. Stay in our Green Creek Cabin and fish the nearby stream or pond.  Bring your own food, sleeping bags, fishing pole and your camera.  We also have fishing ear by in the Dearborn and Missouri Rivers and beautiful Holter Lake.

We also offer relaxing day rides or educational tours though the summer months.  Visit the historical Lewis and Clark Pass where, upon horseback, you can see the faint Native American travois trail, still visible after 200 years, who used his route to hunt buffalo on the eastern plains.  Ride the trial that Lewis and Clark returned to the East on in July of 1806.  Ponder in your mind what it was like back before modern man “tamed” the West. You can rent one of our cabins by the night or the week.
